What is a trademark?

It’s legal protection for your branding – you could trademark a logo, a phrase, a word, a sound, packaging or any combination of these. It gives you the right to exclusively use it and legally challenge anyone who tries to use it.

What does protecting your IP cost?

There’s no set price and it can vary greatly depending on factors such as what type of IP and if you’d like it protected in just Australia or other countries. Contact us for some guidance.

What are some other types of IP protection?

In addition to a trademark, organisations or individuals can file a patent for an invention such as a device, substance, method or process. For something tangible that’s visually unique, you could also file a registered design.

What is a trade secret?

A trade secret is a piece of private information that gives your company a competitive edge. For example, a secret recipe. Trade secrets are not registered with a governing body. You can, however, apply secrecy and confidentiality agreements to them.
